DIY Backyard Fun

Feeling Cabin Fever yet? Ready to play outside with your family and dreaming of warm summer nights playing games? We have some fun DIY outdoor game ideas that are surprisingly easy! All you need is some lumber, paint, and a saw for this one!

Dimensions can vary per preference, but the easiest set to build would be with a 1 inch thick by 12 inch width board - cut in 24 inch lengths. Paint each board your color of choice with a strip of contrasting color down the middle and paint your dots on each end! Typical sets include 28 tiles and it is important to varnish each tile once painted for longevity. 

For simple reference, dominos come in the following number pairs:  6-6 (“double six”), 6-5, 6-4, 6-3, 6-2, 6-1, 6-0, 5-5, 5-4, 5-3, 5-2, 5-1, 5-0, 4-4, 4-3, 4-2, 4-1, 4-0, 3-3, 3-2, 3-1, 3-0, 2-2, 2-1, 2-0, 1-1, 1-0, 0-0. You can build your own custom holding rack for storage or just use a canvas bag or tote. Backyard Dominos will quickly become a go to game in  your backyard and is suitable for all ages!

How about backyard Yahtzee? Sets are commercially sold, but building your own is quite easy. Simply buy a 4 x 4 post, cut into four inch increments - and sand till smooth. Paint or varnish each “dice” you just created with a respective numbering dot on each side and you are ready for hours of fun with this timeless game!
